Marlyn Meyer
Marlyn Meyer, 82, of Denver, Iowa passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Denver Sunset Home in Denver.

Marlyn Lorena Meyer was born on November 2, 1934, the daughter of Henry and Leona (Blasberg) Lau in Readlyn, Iowa. She graduated from Readlyn High School and Wartburg College. On June 12, 1955, she was united in marriage to Raymond V. Meyer at St. Johns Lutheran Church Maxfield in rural Denver, Iowa. Following their marriage the couple farmed near Sumner and in 1958, they moved to Denver and farmed there. Marlyn taught school for 35 years 33 years of those were as a second grade teacher at Readlyn Waspie Valley.
She was a member of Saint Paul United Church of Christ, former member of St. Johns Lutheran Church Maxfield where she also taught Sunday school for many years. Marlyn enjoyed dancing to the big bands at Guttenberg, however, teaching was a great joy in her life. She especially loved to hear about her grandchildren in college and high school and the accomplishments of her children.

Survivors are her two sons, Ray Lou (Kelly) Meyer Jr. of Denver, Iowa and Mitchell (Lori) Meyer of Ankeny, Iowa; daughter, Sue (Tracy) Prestien of Lakewood, Colorado; five grandchildren, Ashley Meyer, Lindy Meyer, Halie Prestien, Kayla Meyer and Nicholas Prestien; three sisters, Verdine Keding of Fayette, Iowa, Lois (Wendell) Meyer of Northwood, Iowa and Carol (Bob) Ungs of Lakewood, California; two sisters-in-law; Betty Lau of Waverly, Iowa, and Betty Roder of Sumner, Iowa and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond Meyer on August 24, 2010; brother, Roland Lau; and two brothers-in-law, Willis Mahlstedt and Ray Roder and sister-in-law, Marie Mahlstedt.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 22, at 11:00 am at Saint Paul United Church of Christ in Denver with Rev. Craig Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilson Grove Township cemetery in rural Sumner, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver and also an hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
