Doretta Phyllis Seegers
Doretta Phyllis Seegers, 89, a resident of Friendship Village in Waterloo, and formerly of Denver, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

Doretta was born October 25, 1927, in Tripoli, Iowa the daughter of William and Hulda (Schellhorn) Zander. She was baptized in 1927 and confirmed in 1941, both at St. John Lutheran Church-Crane Creek. On July 27, 1953, she was united in marriage to Fred Seegers at St. John Lutheran Church-Crane Creek, Tripoli, Iowa. She worked at Rath Packing in Waterloo for a short time. Along with Fred, they owned and operated Seegers Truck Line Inc. in Denver.

Doretta was a longtime member of Saint Paul United Church of Christ in Denver. She enjoyed family activities, social gatherings, sewing and tending to her garden.

Doretta is survived by one daughter, Terri Seegers of Denver, one son, Bryce Seegers of Denver, one granddaughter, Jaclyn (Vallie) Stone of Denver, one great-grandson, Creyton Buhr of Denver, a sister, Evelyn Moeller of Tripoli, and a brother, Amos (Marilyn) Zander of Tripoli. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Harold, William and Willard Zander and a daughter-in-law, Debra Kerns-Seegers.

A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Saint Paul United Church of Christ in Denver with Rev. Craig Henderson officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 14, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver. A private family burial of cremated remains will be held at a later date.
