James “Jim” Duane Pencil
James “Jim” Duane Pencil, 71, of Denver, died Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at his home in Denver of natural causes.

Jim was born January 28, 1946, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Harold and Rosa (Sines) Pencil. He attended Denver and Waverly Schools. On August 23, 1975, he was united in marriage to Linda Edwards in Allison, Iowa. To this union, three children were born. Jim was employed from 1964 to 1994 by Chamberlin’s Manufacturing where he was in charge of the Denver test site, performing a variety of maintenance tasks. He was also active in farming in the Denver area, as well as plowing snow up until last year.

Jim was an active lifetime member of Antique Acres where he was in charge of the tractor pull for numerous years. He enjoyed tractor pulls, stock car racing, being in parades, attending antique shows and racing coups.

Jim is survived by his wife, Linda of Denver, two sons; Toby (Barb) Pencil of Denver and Todd (Cindy) Pencil of Tripoli, two grandchildren; Cara and Conor Pencil of Tripoli, a brother, Harold (Rosemary) Pencil of Zapata, Texas, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Rosanna Pencil.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19th, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Church-Maxfield, rural Denver, with Pastor Corey Smith officiating. Inurnment will be held following the service at Fairview Cemetery in Denver. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church-Maxfield, rural Denver, on Monday, September 18, 2017.
