Ronald Lou Lohmann
Ronald Lou Lohmann, 77, of Waverly and formerly of Readlyn, Iowa, died on October 30, 2017 at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly.

Ron was born on December 6, 1939, at Waverly, Iowa, the son of Edwin G. and Helene B. (Dorn) Lohmann. He was baptized December 20, 1939 at home by Pastor Theo Frese of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Readlyn and confirmed April 11, 1954, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Readlyn, under Pastor J. L. Strelow. He attended grade school-county school and later St. Paul's Parochial in Readlyn. Ron graduated from Tripoli High School. He served in the Army Reserves from 1957-65. Ron was united in marriage to Carolyn Marie Lohmann on April 2, 1961, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Readlyn. Ron worked at Spahn and Rose in Readlyn and farmed while working at John Deere in Waterloo. He later worked for Schneider Trucking and GMT in Waverly. Carolyn passed away on August 6, 2005.

Ron loved his family and was very devoted to his faith. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and loved attending their sports and musical events. Ron always thought they performed better when he attended.

He was an avid volunteer at church, coached at Community Lutheran School, was a 4-H leader and was active in several farming organizations.

Ron is survived by a son, Alan (Diane) Lohmann of Janesville; a daughter, Brenda (J.P.) Buzynski of Hudson; a son, Craig (Wendy) Lohmann of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Debra (Daniel) Lohmann of Oelwein; and a son, Eric (Lori) Lohmann of Tripoli; 20 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, a sister, Sue Eschen of Colorado; a sister, Grace ToSaunt of Texas; a brother, David (Sue) Lohmann of Tripoli; a sister-in-law, Carole Lohmann of Strawberry Point and two special nephews, Jake and Danny Lohmann.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carolyn, a granddaughter, Brittany Lohmann; and a brother, Erling Lohmann.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2017, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Readlyn with Pastor Matthew Moss officiating. Burial will be held in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Readlyn. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Readlyn and also for one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be directed to Community Lutheran School or to a later designation by the family.
