Allen Robert Hennings
Allen Robert Hennings, 75, of rural Denver, Iowa, died on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at the Denver Sunset Home in Denver.

Allen was born on July 14, 1942, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Robert and Verona (Poock) Hennings. He graduated from Denver High School in 1961. On October 6, 1972, Allen was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Burch at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Denver. Allen worked at John Deere in Waterloo for 30 years, retiring in 1995. He later worked in maintenance at the Denver Elderly apartments. Patricia passed away on January 20, 2014.

He enjoyed farming, fishing, snowmobiling, attending tractor pulls and was a huge Iowa Hawkeye fan. Another enjoyment was spending time at the river with his family. He was a longtime member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and the Denver Lions Club.

Allen is survived by a daughter, Dawn (Jeff) Riley of Denver; a son, Tadd (Lisa) Hennings of Denver and a son, Robert (Kathy) Hennings of Tripoli; six grandchildren, Brandon, Adam, Mathew, Kelli, Kristina, and Kurtis; two great grandchildren, Nevaeh and Hudson; a sister, Coleen (Ken) Boyce of Waterloo; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara Hennings of Texas and Millie Hennings of Denver; his mother-in-law, Betty Burch of Waterloo; a sister-in-law, Becky McChane of Waterloo; and two brothers-in-law, Craig (Cindy) Burch of Port Charlotte, Florida, and James (Lyz) Burch of Dewitt. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Patricia; father-in-law, Jack Burch and his two brothers, Rodney and Donald Hennings.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Denver. Burial will be held in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Denver. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver and also for one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
