Barbara “Barb” Ann Klemp, 79, of Denver, died Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at UnityPoint-Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

Barb was born April 11, 1938, the daughter of Elmer and Virginia (Arnold) Tonne. She confirmed her faith at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli on April 6, 1952. She attended Tripoli High School where she was a cheerleader and graduated with the class of 1956. On July 29, 1956, she was united in marriage to Stanley Klemp at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli. To this union, two daughters were born. Stanley passed away in October of 1963. A strong and independent woman, Barb pushed forward raising her daughters and putting herself through beauty school. She worked for several Denver salons over the years including Sandy’s Beauty Salon, Jane’s, Roger’s Hair Studio and then co-owned Generations until her retirement in 2009.

Barb was a longtime member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Denver where she was an active member of Naomi Circle, Sunday School teacher, church council member and quilting. She was an avid and passionate sports fan, especially cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes. She rarely missed a Denver Cyclone football or basketball game and she was always known to have a game on the TV. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and was a skilled sewer, often making clothes for her daughters in their younger years. She enjoyed time with friends, especially card club and the Monday morning coffee group. Her greatest joys came from spending time with family, where she could be found playing cards, games, or visiting.
