Zach Miller gets a hole-in-one!
Denver boys’ golfer Zach Miller shot a 257 yard par 4 hole-in-one at the Sumner-Fredericksburg golf meet recently. Zach used a 5 iron.

Zach was medalist with a 1 under par 34. “If you know anything about golf, not too many get a hole-in-one on a par 4, let alone use a 5 iron that goes 257 yards,” said Coach Kevin Shedenhelm. “In my 12 years of coaching, I have never seen anyone hit a ball as long as Zach.”

The Denver golf team won the meet with a score of 156, with Michael Bohlmann being runner-up medalist with a score of 35. The boys headed into conference with a 6-2 record. Conference was held at LaPorte City, Monday, May 7, with sectionals Friday, May 11 at New Hampton.

Denver girls headed to South Hills for their conference tournament, and Strawberry Point for regionals. The girls have a young team that has improved from day one, according to Shedenhelm.

“Coach Sexton took over the program this year and has done wonders with the girls,” Shedenhelm commented. "Most of the girls had never golfed before, and had a hard time contacting the ball. From the first day to now, the girls are making good contact with the ball and are seeing success.”
