LaVonne F. Menefee
LaVonne F. Menefee, age 84, Waverly, Iowa and formerly of Denver, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Pinnacle Specialty Care in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

LaVonne was born on April 11, 1934, in Oelwein, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Marie (Hjelm) Borchers. She attended grade school in Waterloo, Iowa, and in 1953, graduated from West High School in Waterloo. On June 27, 1954, LaVonne was united in marriage to William D. (Bill) Menefee in Waterloo. The couple made their home in Waterloo for two years before moving to a farm near Denver. They lived there for ten years and in 1966, moved into their home in Denver. In 2004, LaVonne moved to the Ledges in Waverly. During her life LaVonne worked at Black’s Coffee Shop in Waterloo, sold Avon, and did child care in several homes.

LaVonne enjoyed caring for others, traveling, playing cards, playing dominos, shopping, and country western music and movies, however, her greatest enjoyment was time with family, especially her grandchildren.

LaVonne’s memory is honored by: a daughter, Jenny Lee (James) Lehman of Denver; two sons, Norman (Carol) Menefee of Cedar Falls and Charles Menefee of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren, Michael Lehman, Nathan Lehman, Hannah Lehman and Nicholas Menefee. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Bill on August 16, 1996; and a sister, Donna Mae Borchers in infancy.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 20, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver where the family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Denver.
