Denver Ladies prevail against Hudson 3-2 in epic thriller
At several points in the volleyball match against Hudson on Sept. 4, the Denver Cyclones Volleyball team might have lost.

This didn’t happen, as Denver seized the comeback in the fifth set after the Pirates had won two consecutive sets. This also was the lady Cyclones first win at the Cyclone Center.

The first two sets exhibited the Cyclones playing some of their Volleyball, little to no errors and efficiency on every play. Reese Johnson #7 was a big helper for the Cyclones, going on 6 point runs and always being ready to make a dig or save. Abby Sheridan #14 also was a big help for the Cyclones, providing both offense and defense. Defensively, Sheridan made several blocks that turned into points for the Cyclones, and offensively, Sheridan was able to make the crucial kills and aces needed to win.

The next two sets showed the Pirates using early scoring runs to set themselves above the Cyclones. The last set was very close, the Pirates taking an early lead, but with the Cyclones working together, they were able to pull out of the last set, 15-13, and win the match 3-2.

Cyclone Head Volleyball Coach Mara Forsythe said: “I thought the girls showed a lot of fight tonight, even though we weren’t very consistent with our plays.” She added, “Tonight was not just one player’s win, it was the whole team’s win.”
