Margaret Bertha Platte
Margaret Bertha Platte, 89, of Denver, died Sunday, November 4, 2018, at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly.

Margaret was born August 29, 1929, in Maxfield Township, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Bertha (Stumme) Platte. She was baptized September 22, 1929 and confirmed May 20, 1945, at St. John Lutheran Church-Maxfield. She attended school through the 8th grade in Maxfield Township. Margaret worked in housekeeping at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo for 27 years, retiring in 1997.

Margaret was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church-Maxfield. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and was very gifted in needle work, especially crocheting. Over the years she taught herself how to play the organ.

Margaret is survived by one brother, Emil (Charlotte) Platte of Elma, Iowa, one brother-in-law, Don Zelle of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Esther and Luann Platte in infancy, and brothers and sisters, Lorna Everding, Arlen Platte, Erwin Platte, Melvin Platte, Norma Hartman, Bernice Ludwig, Lois Wente and Velma Zelle.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at St. John Lutheran Church-Maxfield, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to the church of Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly.
