Rugby Club off and running
The Denver Rugby Club is off and running into their second season.
They took a blow the first week in their first match of the season losing junior team captain Logan Tierney with a broken collarbone and out for the remainder of the season.

The boys rallied in week two in Cedar Rapids.

“Being down two players, we played with eight, and gave a 2A state-qualifying Cedar Falls  23-man team all they could handle,” said Coach Deutmeyer. “All the players gave it everything they had, and we are very proud of them.”

With the score tied at the half, Denver went on to lose 22-14 with Isaac Besh scoring 12 and Brennan Graber kicking for an additional 2.

With a 10-minute break, match two against Cresco saw a tired but fierce group leave Cresco in the dust with a score of 53-5.  Isaac Besh led in the scoring with 18 points, Kaden Baumgartner followed with 15 and Trevor Dorn scored 10. Cooper Isaacson, Alex Krabenhoft, Luke Koepke, Besh and Graber all got in on the scoring. Max Thrasher led in assists with Dorn and Isaacson leading in tackles.

Denver played last week in Union then will be the host site for the games on Friday, April 26 here in Denver at Prestein Park.  Thank you goes to the City Council and Mayor for helping the Rugby Club host this event.
