Loretta Mae Canfield
Loretta Mae Canfield, 73, passed away at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, Waverly, Iowa on March 14, 2020, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Loretta was born March 5, 1947 in Independence, Iowa to Melvin and Esther (Steinbronn) Canfield. She graduated from Denver High School in 1965. She loved sports and participated in softball and basketball.

After graduation, Loretta lived in Dubuque, Iowa, Ypsilanti, Michigan and Sarasota, Florida doing office work in social security and the health field. After retirement, she moved back to Denver, Iowa to be closer to more of her family. At this time, she enjoyed a part-time job with Martin Health until her illness prevented her from driving. Loretta was an avid sports fan especially of the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. She loved family trips and gatherings and time spent on the back of her sister Judy's trike.

She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Denver, Iowa where she was baptized and confirmed.

Loretta is survived by seven siblings. Judy Decker of Westgate, Iowa, Sandy (George) Chaffee of Sun City, Arizona, Marcy (Larry) Gilliland of Sarasota, Florida, Kathy (Chris) Hopkins of Earlham, Iowa, Mel (Julie) Canfield, Jr., of Des Moines, Iowa, Marilyn (Mark) Huber of Denver, Iowa and Debbie (John) Bracelin of Milford, Iowa. She leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother Kenneth Lee and brother-in-law Roger Decker.

Due to the national crisis, a celebration of life will be determined at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to the Denver Public Library and St. Peter Lutheran Church in Denver, Iowa.

Loretta was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
