Cheers teams take part in short, restricted season
By Micah Knebel

Like most things over the last year, this year's cheer season was far from normal.

The varsity wrestling cheer squad went into the season prepared to cheer with masks, but the news soon came that all cheering would be limited to home duals only. No travel and no opposing cheer team made for an all around unfamiliar experience.

"It was very odd not to be able to even attend many of the meets that were on weekends due to limited ticket sales that we wanted to just go to and watch even if we couldn't cheer," head coach Dawn Wiebbecke noted.

The team was able to cheer at three events, though. Its team this season was made of mostly upperclassmen: seniors Cylee Liddle and Emma Ruby and juniors Mackenzie Johnson, Kevin Ferguson, and Grace Lyons. Its sole underclassmen was Grace Brundrett.

As Wiebbecke looks ahead to next season, she has a simple goal. "Next season we certainly hope that we are able to have a 'normal' season so we can cheer our team on!"
