Girls’ soccer ends week at 4-2, boys 5-3
No. 4 ranked Denver girls’ soccer finished on top in two of their three matches for the week.
They started the week with a 4-0 takedown of Decorah (4-4) on Apr. 26. The next day, they earned a 2-1 victory over Gladbrook-Reinbeck (2-4). On Apr. 29, they suffered a 2-11 loss against 2A #1 ranked Waverly-Shell Rock (4-2). The Cyclones finished the week with a record of 4-2.

Jordyn Foelske socred three goals in the Decorah game. Myah Swanson had the other goal. Emma Hennessy had four saves.

Swanson scored another goal against Gladbrook-Reinbeck. Emma Haase also had a goal. Lexi Gehrke and Jadyn Milius each had assists. Hennessy had seven saves.

Against Waverly Shell-Rock, Foelske had the team’s two goals in the first half. Abbi Austin had an assist. Hennessy had 26 saves.

The Denver boys (3-2) took a 1-0 win over Decorah on Apr. 26. Will Curtis scored the only goal of the game in the third, giving Denver the win. Lakin Foelske had an assist, and Brennen Graber had a 100% save percentage with 13 total saves.

On Apr. 29, the boys faced Postville (7-1) at Denver. The Cyclones took their fifth win of the season with a 4-0 victory over the Pirates. Curtis scored two goals. Caden Foelske and Conner Clinton also had one goal. Caden and Lakin Foelske as well as Curtis each had an assist. Graber was 10/10 in successful saves.
