Denver Lions, LEOs receive National Philanthropy Award
The National Philanthropy organization recognizes and celebrates individuals and organizations who have done so much to enrich their community. 'Gift of the Heart' - Legacy award is given to an individual or organization that inspire philanthropic endeavors by individuals in subsequent generations. This person(s) has helped young people understand the value of giving back to the community as volunteers or donors.

The Denver Lions Club is now involving high school students in their projects by organizing a LEO (Leadership, Experience, Opportunity) Club. There are currently 31 high school student members that have participated in projects, under the leadership and direction of the Denver Lions Club.

Some of these projects include environmental cleanup; re-roofing park shelters; tree planting at Denver Senior Housing; winter coat drive; raking leaves for senior citizens; assisting Denver Scholarship Foundation with their flag placement project; Facebook PSA announcements regarding Covid; clean-up of landscaping at Denver Library, Denver High School and Denver Elementary School; annual food drive for area food banks; Easter egg hunt; and working concession stands for both Little League and high school events.

Congratulations to the Denver Lions and LEOs for their outstanding service and for receiving this wonderful recognition.
