Dean M. Hales
It is with sorrow the family of Dean M. Hales shares of his passing on April 18, 2022, from a battle with lung disease.

Dean was born on December 21, 1956, in Clare, Michigan, the son of Raymond and Betty (Bailey) Hales. He lived in Clare until 2015, when he moved to Denver, Iowa.

After graduating high school, Dean joined the United States Army. Upon his discharge, he returned to Clare in 1979. He was united in marriage to Judy M. Gies on June 27, 1980. He worked for Dow Corning in Midland, Michigan for 30 years as a Journeyman Pipefitter/Welder, retiring in 2009.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, riding his motorcycle and he enjoyed watching the Tigers. He volunteered as a Cub Scout leader and was a Boy Scout master. He was also active in the 4-H summer camps. Dean enjoyed not just watching his children in sports but was an active parent in their activities.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law, James C. and Viola C. (Summerville) Gies; a daughter, Aubrey Ann; his nephews David and Matt Gies; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dean is survived by his wife, Judy M. (Gies) Hales; a son, Mitchell D. (Ashlee Blain) Hales of Clare, Michigan; a daughter, Cassandra R. Hales of Denver, Iowa; his grandchildren, Ethan Hales of Denver, Iowa; Weston and Eastin Hales of Clare, Michigan; and Heath Hales of Denver, Iowa; his brothers, Larry and Susie (Phillips) Hales of Clare, Michigan; and Bruce and Carrie (Strouse) Hales of Clare, Michigan; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation will take place in Iowa. There will be a Celebration of his Life in June 2022 in Clare, Michigan. Burial of his cremains will be in Surrey Township Cemetery in Farwell, Michigan. Memorials in memory of Dean can be given to the Wheatland Music Organization, P.O. 22 in Remus, Michigan 49340. Donations can be made online at Remus, Michigan.
