Cyclones advance past Starmont to face #4 Regina

The Cyclone softball postseason play started at home on July 1 where Denver (12-17) took on Starmont (4-18).

Starmont knocked in a single run at the top of the first which was answered by four runs by Denver at the bottom of the inning and another four in the second inning. Denver continued to advance their lead in the third, moving the game 10-1 by its close.

Both teams scored a single run in the fourth, and Denver grabbed a final run in the fifth to end the game 12-2 and move Denver to the second round.

Against Regina

That next round brought them up against Regina Catholic (18-11). On July 6, the girls took on the #4 Iowa City team at their home and went five rounds.

Regina was the first to score with two runs at the top of the first. They scored again in the third, leading 3-0. By the close of the fourth inning, Regina had moved to a 9-1 lead. They closed out the game in the fifth 11-1, ending Denver’s season.
