Emergency Service and What Your Family Needs to Know

Have you ever wondered where the ambulance or fire trucks are going and what they are going to? Have you thought about how so many people work together to provide a coordinated response after 911 is initiated? Here are some helpful tips to understand after you call 911. Depending on where you live, the response varies. If you live in a larger community, you may have access to full-time EMS and firefighter responders. The opposite is true, if you live in a smaller community, the responders are likely volunteer. Career EMS and firefighters are working from the station, ready to respond within seconds to a 911 request, while volunteers are responding from home or work. While we may offer the same level of care and carry the same equipment, our response times vary.
