McKenna Broadhead places third at EB

Fifteen teams competed in East Buchanan’s Girls’ Wrestling Invitational on January 20.

Denver’s McKenna Broadhead took 3rd in the 235 lb. weight class. She fell to Maci Bergmann of Tripoli in the opening round but came back to claim a 1:01 pin against Dubuque Senior’s Kyra Goedken in the third. She fell in the fourth to Central DeWitt’s Averyia Binion but won the fifth round in a 1:23 pin of Notre Dame, Burlington’s Macey Johnson.

At 110 lbs., Jules Neubauer took 4th after passing the quarterfinal in a bye, falling in a sudden-death victory in the semifinals, and winning the consolation semis in a 1:41 pin over Tripoli’s Riley Bremmer. Neubauer fell to Central DeWitt’s Delaney Barber in the 3rd place match.

At 130 lbs., Chloe Bloker took fifth at the tournament. Her first match was in the quarterfinal where she fell to Aplington-Parkersburg-Grundy Center’s Kayden Muller before taking the consolation round two in a :41 pin over Alburnett’s Lilly Steen. She claimed the consolation semi win in a 2:11 pin over Alaina White of Central DeWitt and the fifth place match in a 1:21 pin of Central Community, Elkader’s Kimberly Suhr.
