Denver Tree Board commemorates Arbor Day
The Denver Tree Board commemorated their second Art Kurtt Memorial Arbor Day by planting six new trees adjacent to the Denver Elementary School playground and practice field.
The Tree Board, currently consisting of eleven active members, gathered on Arbor Day, April 28, to plant, mulch and water the new trees.
Together with the Arbor Day planting, the Tree Board will place 20 new trees in public areas around Denver during the spring of 2023. Additionally, at the request of the Denver City Council, the Tree Board will take an active role in replacing trees along the Iowa Street corridor. Several mature trees were removed along Iowa Street to accommodate the installation of new sewer and water services during the summer of 2022.
The accompanying pictures show the members in action during the tree planting and as they gathered for a group photograph at the end of the work session.
