Roger Sheldon

Roger Sheldon, age 75, of Denver, Iowa, died Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Harmony Care Center in Waterloo, Iowa.
Roger was born on July 23, 1948, in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Irving and Marjorie (Ihde) Sheldon. He was raised in Plainfield, Iowa, and graduated from Plainfield High School in 1966. On April 1967, he entered the United States Army and served in Germany during Vietnam. On August 25, 1973, Roger was united in marriage to Kandyce Bartlett at United Methodist Church in Shell Rock, Iowa. When Roger was young, he worked at the Plainfield Gas Station and for local farmers. After being discharged from the Army he became a foreman for Chicago Northwestern Railroad and later for the Union Pacific Railroad.
Roger’s greatest enjoyment was time with his family and cats, however, he also liked collecting coins, railroad memorabilia, and NASCAR items, especially Dale Earnhardt.
Roger’s memory is honored by his wife, Kandy Sheldon of Denver; son, Nicholas Sheldon of Denver; and four sisters, Joyce, Julie, Sheila, and Kathy. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Glen and his wife Carol.
Roger has been cremated. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Friday, November 3, at Heritage Global Methodist Church in Waverly at 10:30 a.m. Casual dress is encouraged. Private burial of his ashes will be at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Shell Rock.
