JoAnn “JoJo” (Kosbau) Corson
JoAnn “JoJo” (Kosbau) Corson, 70, of Waverly, Iowa, died peacefully on Friday morning, November 3, 2023, at the Waverly Health Center from complications of heart and lung disease.

Jo was born on February 10, 1953, at St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital in Waverly, Iowa, delivered by Dr. Vincent H. Carstensen. Jo was the daughter of Paul Sager and Elaine Ann (Norman) Kosbau. Jo was baptized on March 15,1953 and confirmed on May 5, 1968, both at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waverly. Jo attended grade school in Waverly and in 1971, graduated from the Waverly-Shell Rock High School in Waverly. In her school years Jo was active in Cheerleading, Masquers, Candy Stripers, Home Economics Club, W-SR Pep Club, the musical “South Pacific” and Mixed Chorus.

Jo loved to swim, was a lifeguard and on the swim team at the Waverly pool. JoJo enjoyed any outdoor activities, softball, snow skiing, golf, and planting flowers. While in high school Jo worked at Eckers Flowers and Greenhouse as a designer, and following graduation Jo continued to work at Eckers.

On November 27, 1982, Jo was united in marriage to Steven Reed Corson at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waverly. The couple made their home in Cedar Falls, Iowa. On October 16, 1986, Christopher Reed Corson was born and 11 days later, Jo and Steve adopted Chris. Jo then worked for a short time at Greenbrier’s Flower Shop in Waverly, retiring in 1989. That same year the family moved to Denver, Iowa, and in 1998 made their home in Waverly.

Jo loved her grandchildren, Tristan and Brileigh, dearly and was extremely proud of son, Chris. She had a passion for flowers and doing artwork. Jo enjoyed traveling including special trips to Hawaii, Mexico, New York, Colorado, Texas and Arizona. JoJo loved spending time with her Birthday Club Gals as it was such a special group of friends. They all came over to our house on Monday, October 16, 2023, to share, laugh and cry, it was truly awesome.

Jo is survived by her loving husband, Steve (Dukie) Corson of Waverly: son, Chris and (Katelyn-Ryan) Corson of Waverly, her 2 wonderful grandchildren, Tristan and Brileigh Corson of Waverly; two sisters and one brother, Susan (Don) Mariano of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Dave (Diane) Kosbau of Brookings, South Dakota, and their family, Jenny (Ryan) Bauer, Jase, Kyle, and Will: Jill Kosbau; Jean (Tim) Kuethe of Waverly, Iowa and their family, Nikki (Zach) Ladage, Emerson and Logan; brothers-in law, Cal (Karen) Corson and their family, Phil Corson (Tori Heerts); Jenny (Chris) Gidley and Carter (Barb) Corson and their family, Kim and Carolyn (Fine) Vaea and Henry. Also survived by Bear and Barney, her loving King Charles Cavaliers.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Paul on September 29, 1962, Elaine on September 15, 2013; and her father and mother-in-law, J.R Corson on August 12, 2002, and Edna M. (Vosseller) Corson on August 1, 2018.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and school in Waverly, with Pastor David Efflandt officiating. The burial will be in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Public visitation will be held Monday, November 6th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and also for an hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School, Waverly Health Center, Unity Point Allen Hospital, Unity Point Hospice or donors’ choice.
