Lorna “Lori” Vondell Wedemeier
Lorna “Lori” Vondell Wedemeier, 85, of Hudson, formerly of Denver, died Thursday, November 9, 2023, at UnityPoint-Allen Hospital in Waterloo.
Lori was born March 31, 1938, in Traer, Iowa, the daughter of Freeman H. and Laura K. (Kroeger) Stahr. While growing up she was active in 4H and was recognized as a County Officer and attended state leadership and conventions. She attended Orange Township High School and then Wartburg College in Waverly. On August 5, 1956, she was united in marriage to Roland John Wedemeier at St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Traer. Lori was a homemaker until she went to work at State Farm Insurance where she was promoted over the years to Superintendent Secretary in the claims department. After 26 years at State Farm, she retired.
Lori was a devoted member of the Community Church of Hudson. She enjoyed attending exercise group on Mondays and Thursdays, as well as sewing and reading. In addition, she loved to attend activities of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Lori is survived by three children; Becki Wedemeier of West Des Moines, Scott (Penny) Wedemeier of Galesburg, IL, and Heidi (Jeff) Hebron of Wichita, KS, eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Roland, two sons; Jeffrey and Gregory Wedemeier, a sister, LaVonne Draper and a brother, Raymond Stahr.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at the Community Church of Hudson with Rev Eric Davis officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Community Church of Hudson. Online condolences may be left at kaisercorson.com.
