Donna Niedert

Donna Marie Niedert, 88, of Denver, died Monday, August 4, 2025, at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly.

Donna was born November 7, 1936, on the family farm outside of Sumner, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Dorlena (Buhr) Erhardt. She was baptized November 22, 1936, and confirmed May 6, 1951, both at St. Paul United Church of Christ, rural Sumner. She attended Oran High School, graduating in 1955. On August 12, 1956, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Niedert at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Sumner, to this union a son was born, Kevin. She worked at Link-Belt Speeder Corporation in Cedar Rapids, Kroblin Trucking in Waterloo, as well as being an exceptional homemaker. Kenny passed away in 2018 and Donna continued to live in Denver until entering the nursing home in 2020.

Donna was a longtime, active member of Saint Paul United Church of Christ in Denver where she served in several capacities over the years. She had a wonderful sense of humor and wasn’t afraid to give you a little bit of a hard time. She was an exceptional cook and baker and loved to take time to go shopping. Tending to her flower garden and babysitting her grandsons when they were younger were true highlights in her life. She was known as a loving, caring and kind person.

Donna is survived by her son, Kevin (Judy) Niedert of Tripoli, two grandsons; Kendall Niedert of Tripoli and Keith (Tara) Niedert of Denver, one great grandson; Kohen Niedert, one brother, Virgil (Nadine) Erhardt of Sumner and one sister; Carol (Gary Sr.) Everding of Denver. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Eugene Erhardt, and her husband, Kenny Niedert.

Visitation was held from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver. Funeral Services wwere held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 11, at Saint Paul United Church of Christ in Denver with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the service began. Interment followed in the Fairview Cemetery, Denver. Memorial contributions may be directed to Saint Paul United Church of Christ in Denver or UnityPoint Hospice.
