Edwin Hollis

Edwin Hollis, 86, of Denver died on Friday, November 21, 2025, at UnityPoint Health – Allen Memorial in Waterloo.

Edwin Cecil Hollis was born on September 7, 1939, the son of Roy A. and Lauretta (Henningsen) Hollis in Dike, Iowa. He was baptized on December 23,1946 at Zion Lutheran Church in Waterloo and confirmed in 1954, at St. John Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. Ed graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1957 and received his associate’s degree from Hawkeye Tech in Computer Science. Edwin was united in marriage to Sandra Jolann Hiatt on December 3, 1966, at First Lutheran Church in Ottumwa. He was a mechanic at several service stations, sold tools for Cornwell tools and worked at Porta-Vet.

He was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Denver and served with the Stout Fire Department where he was also a former Fire Chief. Ed enjoyed woodworking, Street Rods, watching NASCAR races, attending auctions and spending time with his family.

Ed is survived by his children, Sue (Al) Hughes of Marion, Blair (Pam) Freet of Tipton, Heidi (Kevin) Ingold of Stout and Heather Kolsrud of Denver; three grandchildren, McCale Kolsrud (Madi Nagra), Mason Kolsrud and Hazel Kolsrud and great-granddaughter, Juniper Kolsrud. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sandra on October 30, 2024; two grandchildren, Maxwel Kolsrud and Baby Boy Ingold and sister and brother-in-law, Pat (David) Spake.

Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church located at 641 Lincoln Street in Denver with a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. at the church.
