Rosalie Nystrom

Rosalie Nystrom, age 85, of Oelwein, Iowa and formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, died Thursday, October 30, 2025, at MercyOne Medical Center in Oelwein.

Rosalie was born on May 4, 1940, in Shell Rock, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Hilda (Bahlman) Leisinger. She was raised in Shell Rock and graduated from Shell Rock High School in 1958. On March 29, 1969, Rosalie was united in marriage to Carl Nystrom at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waverly, Iowa. The couple would spend their life farming together north of Waterloo. Shortly after Carl passed in 2004, Rosalie moved to the nursing home in Oelwein due to her health. Rosalie loved music, cats, power walking, and trips with Carl to New York and California.

Rosalie’s memory is honored by the following: two daughters, Roxanne Ott of Fairbank, Iowa and Angie (Stuart) Brecunier of Dunkerton, Iowa; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Velda Dreesman of Waverly. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, LaVern and Marvin Leisinger.

Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, at Swede Valley Lutheran Cemetery in rural Ogden, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to Denver, Iowa, American Legion or the Denver Library. Online condolences may be left atwww.kaisercorson.com. 319-984-5379.
