Sandra Swanson
Sandra K. Swanson, 81, of Waverly and formerly from Denver died on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the Waverly Health Center.
Sandy was born on January 3, 1944, the daughter of Martin J and Mildred J. (Faulkner) Silver in Williamsport, IN. On December 30, 1986, she was united in marriage to Jerry L. Swanson in Slidell, LA. After over 20 years working at Allen Hospital, Sandy retired in 2017 and later took a part-time job at West Cedar elementary school serving breakfast, a position she loved and held until two years ago.
Sandy found purpose serving others and was an unwavering source of support for her family and friends. She loved spending time with her grandkids, dancing, playing cards with friends, and celebrating her very favorite time of year – Christmas. She met the challenges of life with inspiring resilience and strength. Sandy will be remembered as a patient listener who always had encouraging words to offer others. By her family she will also be remembered as “Grandma Boss” who could always make them laugh. Her strength and giant caring heart will live on in everyone who was lucky enough to be loved by her.
Survivors are her husband, Jerry Swanson of Waverly; children: Angela (Darin) Gaede, Amy (Jeff) Hungate, Noah Swanson and Seth (Lindsay) Swanson; six grandchildren: Preston and Chloie Brown, Kolton Adams, Grace, Leo and Warren Gaede; three great grandchildren: Lana and Lily Bork and Jaedon Adams. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Thomas, William, James and Bob Silver and four sisters, Joyce Wetli, Patty Portman, Rita Senesac and Mary Klemme.
Celebration of Life was on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastors Ben & Dani Dau presiding. Visitation was Saturday, December 6 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly. Burial was on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Denver.
