Sharon Ann Midthus
Sharon Ann Midthus, 85, of Denver, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.
Sharon was born on March 17, 1941, in Cresco, Iowa, the daughter of Ervin and Margaret (Schultz) Ernst. She was raised in Cresco and graduated from Cresco High School in 1959. On June 26, 1960, Sharon was united in marriage to Alton Midthus at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco. The couple made their home in Waterloo where Sharon worked as a secretary for various places. Moved to Denver, Iowa, in 1969, to raise their family and in 1970, she started raising Alton half siblings as well. In the mid 1970s, Sharon went to work for Denver Elementary School, where she was secretary, teacher’s aid, and librarian, retiring in 2002.
Sharon was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Denver where she taught Sunday School. She also was a member of Denver Booster Club, Denver Wrestling Boosters, and volunteered at many events around town getting her named as volunteer of the year by Governor Terry Brandstad. Her greatest enjoyment was time with her family; however, she also liked attending wrestling meets and eating popcorn and ice cream.
Sharon’s memory is honored by: husband, Alton Midthus of Denver; son, Troy (Antonia) Midthus of New Hartford, Iowa; daughter, Jill (Todd) Hickle of Altoona, Iowa; Alton’s half siblings that she raised, Debbie (Ron) Ludwick, Lori (Scot) Werkmeister, Todd Midthus, and Curt (Tommi) Midthus; eight grandchildren, Taylor (Shanice) Midthus, Whitney Davis, Drew Stewart, Maile (Jarred) Ryherd, Bethany (Seth) Christiansen, Noah Heathcott, Taylor Hickle, and Brooklynn (Hansen) Vermie; twelve great-grandchildren, Aria, Falynn, Nova, Rowan, Dane, Ell, Adrian, Clarke, Evelyn, Bodie, Blakeley, and Hadley. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Judy Curtis.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 17, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Denver.
